Mission
The Graduate College has a primary mission to foster an intellectual
and academic climate conducive to exemplary scholarship, research, and
creativity among students and faculty. The Graduate College makes every
effort to assure that graduate programs are of high quality, stimulate
the creation of new work and the generation of new knowledge, and
benefit undergraduate instruction occurring in concert with graduate
education - with graduate students at the center of all these
activities.
In pursuing its mission, the Graduate College;
- advocates on behalf of graduate education,
- develops and allocates resources that support graduate students, departments and programs,
- promulgates policies and procedures for establishing, improving and assessing graduate programs,
- stimulates and fosters interdisciplinary approaches and global perspectives,
- strives to create an academic and intellectual climate that respects diversity, values creativity, and supports development of the professional potential of each student.
