Call for Nominations
for the 2008 Presidential Lecturer - due April 16

On Sunday, February 25, Kevin Campbell, Professor of
Molecular Physiology and Biophysics, presented the 2007 Annual
Presidential Lecture, "Molecular Basis of Muscular Dystrophy and
Approaches to Therapy." This marked the 24th year that the President
of the University of Iowa has extended an invitation to a member of the
faculty to present the Presidential Lecture. Those considered for
the honor and the honorarium are selected from a list of faculty
nominated by colleagues on the basis of national or international
recognition of their creativity and scholarship. The list of past
Presidential Lecturers can be found below. More information is

The Presidential Lecturer Selection Committee invites you to nominate
faculty colleagues whose work is nationally and internationally
distinguished for its creativity and importance and for its broad
academic, professional and social appeal.
Nomination materials should include the nominee's CV along with a letter
of support describing the nominee's major accomplishments and the
reasons the person would be considered a strong candidate for this
honor. The materials, which are due by Monday, April
16 23,
2007, should be sent to John C. Keller,
