  Events

Graduate Student Recognition Week
Graduate Student Senate has established Graduate Student Recognition Week at the University of Iowa, to be held annually in the week preceding the James F. Jakobsen Graduate Student Conference. This year, events will take place March 20-25.

Graduate Student Recognition Week is a great opportunity for the University community to recognize the unique and vital role that graduate students play here at the University of Iowa. For more information about Grad Student Recognition Week, please contact GSS (grad-senate@uiowa.edu).

Jakobsen Conference
The 2006 James F. Jakobsen Graduate Conference (formerly the Jakobsen Forum) will be held March 25, 2006. This is the seventh year that the Graduate Student Senate, with the support of the Graduate College, will sponsor this conference to showcase the excellent research completed by graduate students at The University of Iowa.

This event provides a unique opportunity for students to experience a professional conference in a safe environment, with no travel costs, while interacting with graduate students across all disciplines.

The Graduate College supports this multi-disciplinary forum, committing $6000 to be awarded to the top presenters in each division.

Graduate College Hosts Award Ceremony
In conjunction with Graduate Student Recognition Week, the Graduate College will host the D.C. Spriestersbach Prize & L.B. Sims Award Ceremony on March 24, 2006. The event will honor graduate students for excellence in master's and doctoral research.
