GSS Graduate Student Recognition Week—March 26-31
James F. Jakobsen Graduate Student Conference—March 31Last year the Graduate Student Senate inaugurated Graduate Student Recognition Week (GSRW). This year we are pleased to continue the tradition during the Second Annual Graduate Student Recognition Week, to be held March 26-31. The week will culminate on Saturday, March 31, with the Ninth Annual James F. Jakobsen Graduate Student Conference.
Graduate Student Recognition Week is a great opportunity for the University community to recognize the unique and vital role that graduate students play here at the University of Iowa. The week will feature a series of events celebrating graduate students and graduate education.
The Graduate Student Senate hopes that colleges, departments, offices, programs, organizations, and other groups from across the campus will join us in recognizing this important week by celebrating the accomplishments of graduate students during Graduate Student Recognition Week and perhaps by hosting a special event for graduate students.
Some of the events that were held last year can be found on our website. Last year's activities were planned by individual departments (e.g., Classics and Psychology), groups of departments (e.g., the language departments in Phillips Hall), colleges (e.g., Public Health and Business), and other groups. Round table discussions, lectures, award ceremonies, and exhibits are just some of the ways to take part. Please let us know if you plan to host an event during this week by filling out the form on our website.
Thank you for your support of this event and of graduate education. Please e-mail grad-senate@uiowa.edu if you have any questions. We look forward to your participation.
Sincerely,
Johnathan Gajdos
President, Graduate Student SenateClick here for a list of upcoming thesis defenses.
