Registration and Certification
University Registration and Records
Whatever the classification of your appointment, you have a special status of Postdoctoral Scholar within the Graduate College, which has responsibility for administration of postdoctoral education. This status results in a transcript record of your postdoctoral appointment. Following your postdoctoral appointment, some employers, including the Federal Government, may require or request such documentation as a condition of employment.
The transcript record also includes any courses you take while at The University of Iowa. Postdoctoral Scholars may enroll in courses with or without credit. Registration for zero semester hours (without tuition assessment) is possible for selected courses through a special Graduate College course code. This code may be used, for example, to enroll in the Responsible Conduct of Research course (required of all NIH-funded researchers) or other courses required of or of benefit to Postdoctoral Scholars.
Certification of Postdoctoral Work
The University Registrar will, upon request, issue a certificate
recognizing your postdoctoral education, provided your appointment was
for one semester or longer. The University transcript also will reflect
the dates you begin and complete your postdoctoral appointment.
