Iowa Arts Fellowships
The Graduate College is pleased to announce the University of Iowa Arts Fellowship Program for 2008-2009.
The Iowa Arts Fellowship (IAF) is primarily designed to help recruit the most talented artists to MFA programs at Iowa. In addition, the Graduate College will accept department/program recommendations to support a current MFA student who has excelled in his/her first year.
- Fellowship nominations will be accepted from the following
departments/programs: Art, Cinema & Comparative Literature, Dance,
Non-Fiction Writing, Playwrights Workshop, Theatre, Writers’
Workshop.
- Besides the potential awards allocated to these departments, the
departments may also apply for one of five additional fellowships to
awarded on a competitive basis.
- Nominations for the competitive awards must be made by Friday, March 7, 2008. Only students who have been offered admission may be nominated. Selection of competitive award winners will be made by Friday, March 21, 2008.
This is a two-year award that includes an $18,000 academic year fellowship stipend plus tuition, standard UI fees, and health insurance allowance. Three-year MFA programs may arrange to split the second year award across two years.
Nominations for Iowa Arts Fellowships should be sent to Associate Dean Dan Berkowitz, including:
- Nomination letter from Director of Graduate Studies
- Copy of the student’s application with letters of reference
