Graduate Assistant Tuition Scholarship
When John Keller became Dean of the Graduate College in 2002, one of his stated goals was to "build on the long tradition of excellence in graduate education at the University of Iowa." Dean Keller indicated that one means to that end was to continue to attract and retain outstanding graduate students to the University. In conjunction with this goal, one of the Graduate College’s priorities was to provide tuition assistance to graduate assistants.
In 2003, negotiations with the graduate employee union, COGS, ended with an agreement that allows the university to work toward this goal. Starting with the 2003-2004 academic year, students holding a 25% or greater assistantship (teaching or research) received a tuition scholarship based on a 9 s.h. registration. The University continues to work toward tuition assistance each year.

The tuition scholarships will be applicable only for the academic year and does not include scholarships for summer semester enrollment.
