New Graduate Student Welcome & Orientation
Welcome to The University of Iowa! We are delighted that you have chosen to pursue your graduate education studies at Iowa.
To help you settle in the Iowa City area and prepare for your graduate studies, the Graduate College will host its New Graduate Student Welcome and Orientation, the only comprehensive orientation offered for incoming graduate students, on Friday, August 22, 2008 beginning at 3:00 p.m.
Please note location change—This event was originally scheduled to be held in the Main Lounge of the Iowa Memorial Union. However, due to flooding, the Information Fair and Presentations will take place at the Sheraton Iowa City Hotel, and the Welcome will be held next door to the Sheraton in the E.W. Lehman Ballroom at Hotel Vetro and Conference Center.
The Welcome Schedule features:
- Information Fair—Learn about student services and student
organizations at The University of Iowa, and gather information on
many resources in the Iowa City and Coralville communities.
- Presentations—Gain valuable information about paying
tuition and fees (UI Billing Office), health insurance enrollment
(UI Student Insurance), assistantship payment (UI Payroll), the
Main Library, and services for families (UI
Family Services).
- Official Welcome Ceremony—Hear an Iowa welcome from Graduate
College Dean John Keller and others. Enjoy food and an opportunity to
meet other new graduate scholars and Graduate College staff.
