| Research Description | We will write college/university textbooks for use in undergraduate courses on comparative politics, post-Soviet politics and Russian politics. This text will include an extensive discussion of government and politics in Russia, but will add country studies of Ukraine, Georgia, Lithuania and Uzbekistan. these countries allow for representation and discussion of each of the major geographical/cultural regions of the former USSR. |
| Undergraduate Role | Undergraduate research assistants will help gather materials (information) on the following major topics: History (main steps taken in the pre-independence and post-independence periods). Political Institutions and Processes (main constitutional structures and institutions of government). The nature of society and political culture (including religious or ethnic conflict), Bases of Conflict (political participation, political parties and political opposition), and Main questions of public policy (the economy and other domestic policy issues, questions of foreign policy). |
| Minimum Qualifications | Strong writing and research skills. GPA of 3.1 or greater. |
