Graduate College Summer Fellowships

The Graduate College is pleased to announce the 2013 Graduate College Summer Fellowship program for advanced doctoral students.

The fellowship is intended to facilitate completion of the doctoral degree in a timely manner. Students who will have completed their comprehensive examinations by the end of the Fall 2012 term and who will defend their dissertation during the summer term or later are eligible to apply for the fellowship. This fellowship is intended to provide summer funding to as many students as possible who are working to complete their doctoral dissertations and who would not otherwise have funding for the summer. Therefore, students with other sources of summer funding (e.g., graduate assistantships, fellowships, grants) will not qualify for a Graduate College Summer Fellowship. Previous Graduate College Summer Fellowship recipients, Ballard and Seashore Fellowship recipients, Presidential Graduate Fellowship recipients, and Dean's Graduate Fellowship recipients are not eligible.

Graduate College Summer Fellowship winners will receive a $3,000 summer stipend, plus tuition only (at the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences rate) for up to 2 credit hours.

Awards will be based on consideration of the student’s plans for use of the fellowship summer, the student’s progress towards the doctoral degree, evaluation of the student’s grades, and a letter of recommendation from the student’s dissertation advisor. Award winners will be required to report how they used the funds by Friday, August 16, 2013.

The deadline for applications is Friday, March 8, 2013. Apply online here.
