Charisse Madlock-Brown, a Ph.D. candidate in health informatics, is seeking to help medical practitioners become more efficient by giving them the tools to retrieve relevant documents as quickly as possible.

Madlock-Brown is collecting data on user behavior and interface design and building visualization techniques to allow users to understand characteristics of large document sets. If these systems are improved, patient care and research can improve because clinicians and researchers will be better able to access the most pertinent information. “This type of work has the potential to have a huge impact on not only medical practitioners, but society as well,” Madlock-Brown said.
