Iowa served by SLIS' teacher librarian grant

SLIS secured grant funding for teacher librarian training programs that serve Iowans. For details on this statewide program, click here. The map below shows the location of 39 Iowa K-12 teachers who are enrolled in and fully funded for a master of arts degree in Library Science. Two cohorts of students will move through the degree program. Most of the coursework is delivered by distance education systems, making the training program feasible for teachers from all parts of Iowa.

The program was created in response to the demand for teacher librarians in Iowa, with special emphasis on training them to provide leadership in new media technology in education and the role of the library in facilitating student learning.
