Progress in diversity

Diversity chart

The UI continues to value diversity in its student population, recognizing that scholars with different, even divergent, vantage points enrich the educational atmosphere at Iowa. Enrollment of women and international students has remained steady over the past five years (see Figure 2), while enrollment of underrepresented minorities has seen a healthy increase, up from 8.8% to 9.5%.

In 2005, the Graduate College established the Office of Graduate Ethnic Inclusion (OGEI). OGEI works with graduate programs to recruit, enroll, and retain outstanding underrepresented students.
