Generous Financial Support

More than 80 percent of the Graduate College budget is spent directly on student stipends, fellowships, and tuition scholarships.

The Graduate College offers Iowa Recruitment Fellowships and Post-Comprehensive Research Awards to provide graduate students with protected and supported time to fully engage in their scholarly research activities.

The T. Anne Cleary International Dissertation Research Fellowships, funded by the Graduate College, support research outside of the United States. The Ballard and Seashore Dissertation Fellowship assists graduate students in completing their dissertation during their last year at the University of Iowa.

Graduate Student Travel Awards from the Graduate College are awarded to graduate students presenting at professional conferences.

The Graduate College awards Iowa Arts Fellowships to the most talented MFA applicants in Art, Cinema and Comparative Literature, Dance, Film/Video Production, Theatre, and Creative Writing. The Graduate College also presents Iowa Performance Fellowships to Doctor of Musical Arts applicants in a performance area of music.
