Finding a Mentor at UI

Step 1 - Identify your program area(s) of interest.

Step 2 - review the faculty and research areas described in these program web sites.  If you would like some guidance here, please contact us by email at ui-mcnair@uiowa.edu

Step 3 - Make a list of possible faculty whom you'd like to work with.

Step 4 - In your personal statement (McNair application), tell us about your area(s) of research interest and be sure to include the programs and/or faculty whom you identified in steps 1-3.

Step 5 - The Program Director, Program Advisory Committee, and Program Staff will work with prospective McNair Scholars to finalize the selection of your McNair Faculty Mentors.
