Postdoctoral Research/Fellow Salary

The Graduate College recommends when appointing new Postdoctoral Research Scholars (FP01) and Postdoctoral Research Fellows (FP02) that the salaries be determined by the NIH/NRSA salary guidelines.

Release Date March 27, 2009:  As of October 1, 2008, NIH recommends the following salaries determined by years of experience:

0. $37,368
1. $39,360
2. $42,204
3. $43,860
4. $45,504
5. $47,460
6. $49,344
7. $51,552

The Graduate College strongly advocates utilizing these salaries. If for some reason you cannot meet this salary requirement, a letter of justification must be attached to the Postdoctoral Request to Hire.

The College is concerned about equity for current postdoctoral scholars/fellows and encourages departments to bring their salaries into alignment with new hires.
