Fall


Field to Family (September) - A food festival that fosters a closer connections between the community and its local farmers and food producers.  A four day event in and around Iowa City.

 

The University of Iowa Homecoming festivities - September 25-October 1, 2005

 
Winter

Amana Colonies Winterfest (January) - In Amana, it includes ice sculpting, dog sledding, 5k run/walk, ice harvesting, wine tours.

UI Celebrating Cultural Diversity Festival (February) - The University of Iowa proudly embraces cultural diversity as a central pillar of who we are. We proudly recognize our many national origins with dignity, and we showcase our varied cultural contributions to the community. Come enjoy ethnic foods, live music, crafts, songs, dances, storytelling, martial arts.

Museum of Art Annual Snowflake Festival (December) - An afternoon of art, music, activities and refreshments for adults and children, celebrating the start of winter.

Spring

University of Iowa Riverfest (April) - RiverFest is a weekend-long festival that fills Hubbard Park and the Hancher river bank with various foods, carnival rides, games, crafts, music, River Run, the Riverbank Art Fair, and a various activities that appeal to various interests.

 
Summer

IC Downtown Association Friday Night Concert Series (May-September) - Different musicians play on the Ped Mall every Friday night.Iowa Arts Festival (June) -Situated in the heart of downtown Iowa City, this free event draws children and adults to the celebration of great art and music!

Des Moines Art Festival (June) - Each year the free, three-day celebration of the arts, decorates the downtown riverfront with exceptional artwork, entertainment and children's activities.

Freedom Festival (June/July) - 12 days of celebration in Cedar Rapids culminating on the 4th of July.

Riverside Theatre Shakespeare Festival (June/July) - Riverside Theatre presents Shakespeare.

Patricia Barber, Jazz Fest

Iowa City Jazz Festival (July) - Since its humble inception in 1991, this free event has transformed into a nationally recognized event with an average annual audience of more than 25,000 that has featured some of the biggest names in jazz.

Register's Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa (Ragbrai) (July) - Started in 1973, it is an annual bike ride across Iowa that attracts droves of people from all over Iowa and the US.

Summer Opera Festival (Summer) - Cedar Rapids

Summer Opera Festival (Summer) – Des Moines

Iowa State Fair (August) - In Des Moines, "America's Favorite Fair" - annually attracts more than a million fun-lovers from around the world. Midwest Living magazine recently named the event one of the "Top 30 Things Every Midwesterner Should Experience."

HerbFest (August) - The nation’s largest herb and natural living conference.

Celtic Highland Festival (August) - Davenport, Celebrate the sports, music, dance and heritage of the Celtic nations of Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Cornwall, Brittany, Galicia and Isle of Man.
