Mental Health Needs of Youth in Alternative High Schools

Research Description To determine the mental health needs of youth in alternative high schools in order to develop ways to deliver the needed services. 
Undergraduate Role Help collect the data, analyze it and begin to develop alternative means of delivering mental health services-perhaps by writing a grant.
Minimum Qualifications Basic data entry skills, good writing and conceptualization skills, willing to work hard

A Survey of the Prevalence and Practices of Acceleration in Schools

Research Description Conduct a national survey to assess how widely used academic acceleration is in school.  Measure attitudes of schools, parents, teachers, etc., toward acceleration.
Undergraduate Role Help conduct and analyze survey research on academic acceleration for K-12 students.  Attend weekly meetings.
Minimum Qualifications 3.0 GPA

Assessing Home Schooling Instruction

Research Description To develop an assessment tool that will be used by parents and educators to document academic progress of home schooled children.
  Undergraduate Role Member of research team.  Will assist with gathering and entering data, writing brief summaries of parent comments, helping with preparation of reports.
Minimum Qualifications Course work in education or psychology. Computer skills and familiarity with Word, Excel, and Power Point software.
