Graduate College Summer Fellowships
The Graduate College is pleased to announce the 2008 Graduate College Summer Fellowship program for advanced doctoral students.
The fellowship is intended to facilitate completion of the doctoral degree in a timely manner. Students who will have completed their comprehensive examinations by the end of the Spring 2008 term and who will defend their dissertation during the summer term or later are eligible to apply for the fellowship. Previous Graduate College Summer Fellowship recipients and Ballard and Seashore Fellowship recipients are not eligible. Up to 150 awards will be made for the 2008 summer term.
Graduate College Summer Fellowship winners will receive a $3,000 summer stipend, plus tuition for up to 2 credit hours, and standard graduate student fees as listed in the Schedule of Courses.
This fellowship is intended to provide summer funding to as many students as possible who are working to complete their doctoral dissertations and who would not otherwise have funding for the summer. Therefore, students with other sources of summer funding (e.g., graduate assistantships, fellowships, grants) will not qualify for a Graduate College Summer Fellowship.
Awards will be based on consideration of the student’s plans for use of the fellowship summer, the student’s progress towards the doctoral degree, evaluation of the student’s grades, and a letter of recommendation from the student’s dissertation advisor. Award winners will be required to report how they used the funds by Friday, August 15, 2008.
The deadline for applications is Friday, March 7, 2008.
To apply, download, complete, and send the Application Form and Signature Page before the application deadline.
