Research project title
Community Arts, Arts Education, and Public Engagement: 2013 Iowa City Carnaval Parade
Research description
Research will consist of assessment of the project including a community participant survey of the Iowa City Carnaval Parade event, June 9th, 2013; a survey among K-12 and university teachers of carnaval curriculum ideas and strategies; a survey of community groups that did not participate in the carnaval parade event to examine possibilities for future partnerships.
Undergraduate minimum qualifications
Knowledge of word processing programs; interest in public outreach and civic engagement
Undergraduate role
Students will be expected to work on assessment before, during and after the June 9th event. Surveys will be formulated collected, tabulated, and summarized by the students. Students interested in arts education will be given additional work on curriculum development.
