Office of Postdoctoral Scholars

The Graduate College serves as the administrative home for all UI postdoctoral scholars and fellows. We are committed to building a vibrant postdoctoral community and to providing a professional environment that will enrich your postdoctoral experiences at Iowa. We host more than 300 postdoctoral trainees on campus annually, and we serve as a resource for postdocs, faculty mentors, departments, and colleges employing our postdoctoral network.

We frequently collaborate with the Office of the Vice President for Research to be sure postdoc needs are addressed. We want to ensure that our postdocs excel professionally and compete successfully for their desired positions in academia, industry, government, or business. Various staff are available to help. Please contact us or visit us in Gilmore Hall (Room 201).

If you have HR needs, please contact Tanesha Herman (, 335-1287) or Donna Welter (, 335-2145).

If you have professional development needs (e.g., grant writing, job searching, professional networking, etc.), please contact Joe Cannella (, 335-2731).

If you want information about diversity and inclusion efforts, contact Elizabeth Lara (, 384-2704) or Shelly Campo (, 335-2136)

If you need to talk about any other issue (including grievances), please contact Shelly Campo (, 335-2136) or Donna Welter (, 335-2145).

We strive to provide support for postdoctoral scholars and their faculty mentors to ensure an excellent environment for postdoctoral training and education.
